“unwavering seriousness to the artistic work” – with these words the directors, musicians and journalists described Jesús López Cobos, who as general music director alongside Götz Friedrich helped to shape the renewal process of musical theatre at the Deutsche Oper Berlin from 1981 to 1990 and died in Berlin on 2 March 2018.
With a commemorative matinee in the foyer of the Deutsche Oper Berlin on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at 11 a.m., we would like to remind you of the highly esteemed artist and cordially invite you to attend. Dominique Meier, Director of the Vienna State Opera, will pay tribute to important stages of this musical life in his speech. Ensemble member Irene Roberts, General Music Director Donald Runnicles and members of the orchestra and choir provide the musical framework.
