Different States have different dates for Summer vacation – remember, it’s six weeks here but a different six weeks in each State. Here’s when the various ZAV offices and theaters in their region are officially back in business.
Leipzig – August 14
Hamburg – August 19
Berlin – August 22
Köln – Sept 1
Stuttgart (Chorus) – Sept. 12
München – Sept. 14
They serve theaters within their region but share information with all the other ZAV agents. In contrast to private agents who often arrange auditions in weeks, ZAV can take months so write now for the Fall; before Christmas or early in the New Year for the Spring.
Berlin and Munich are crowded and have many local Conservatories.I hear Leipzig is good and Köln is near a lot of theaters. Hamburg serves the North and there are several good theaters up there. Stuttgart is primarily for Chorus jobs, but it’s good money and a beginning in life here.
