Summer is ending…know when “Sommerferien” ends for each German State!

Summer Vacation (Schulferien/Sommerferien), is the six weeks when theaters close and many Germans take long vacations. This will be over by the end of August with two major exceptions; Bayern (where Munich is) and Baden-Würtenburg (where Stuttgart is located). These two Bundesländer (States) always have their summer vacations at the same time. Like all the others, their vacation is six weeks long but the others change their start time every year, moving forward by a week until they go back to the mid-June start time. It’s complicated and theater life is directly affected, as are audition schedules, so here’s a list of all the end dates so you can be prepared and know when to start reaching out to companies and agencies.
