For our latest Success Stories Feature, Oper Germany is thrilled to interview Martha Eason who is enjoying a career as a lyric coloratura soprano in Germany. Martha has not only found success on the opera stage, but also as a consultant for singers who hope to begin a career in Germany as well.
In our interview, you’ll learn how Martha’s background and education in Arts Administration first led her to travel to Germany to study how the German opera system works after being awarded a grant from the Georgina Joshi Foundation. After arriving in Berlin, she quickly realized she wanted to be a part of the system that she was studying and began auditioning! After guest engagements at the Komishe Oper Berlin and Opera Leipzig, Martha then became a member of the ensemble at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater in 2018 where she has worked for six seasons. This summer she began a new “festvertrag” as an ensemble member at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.
