I may be in the ‘breathtaking’ stage of AI reaction but I just did some AI research on agents and German opera houses. I was VERY impressed but a word of caution is in order: you have to ask the right question and be discriminating about the answers. You also have to know enough of the ins and outs of the German system: ChatGPT had many breathtaking and valuable insights about agents and where they placed singers but also lumped theaters such as Mannheim or Karlsruhe with Kiel and Oldenburg. They are all great places to get jobs and experience, but they are NOT at all the same and are ranked differently.
I should also mention that I used Google Gemini, which I think highly of, but which I suspect used information from my personal profile, which has many entries about particular agents as well as references to OperGermany. They were included in the Gemini answers but not the ChatGPT so that makes me suspicious about sources. To be fair the questions were slightly different It’s only a suspicion but it might limit the information you get. It’s a tremendously useful tool but not the Word from On High, so use your head and keep a critical eye out.
